Tannery Farm Cashmeres is a small goat farm located in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, owned by Shirley Richardson and Mike Smith. We breed and raise goats for their cashmere fiber and for their healthy, robust bodies. Our focus is on quality cashmere fiber on quality goats. Our primary products are cashmere goat breeding stock and Chevon (meat). We sell cashmere goats to people who want to harvest their own cashmere. The cashmere that we harvest from our goats is sold to Boreas Farm. Once processed, the cashmere becomes available to spinners and knitters as roving and yarn.
We welcome visitors to our farm, and, of course, to our website. We are a member of the Northeast Kingdom Travel and Tourism Association, and welcome agri-tourism visitors. At the farm you can see our goats, see how we manage our operation, and even participate in goat chores.
The goals of our website are to:
- show you pictures of our goats and our farm
- tell you about Tannery Farm Cashmeres and how to Contact Us
- let you know about our breeding philosophy
- acquaint you with our products
- provide links to web resources
